Cookies and local storage
This explains which cookies and similar technologies run on the site, what each one does, and above all how you control them. Our rule is simple: nothing beyond what is strictly necessary runs before you have allowed it.

The rule: consent first, not after
On your first visit you are given a choice. Until you make it, only strictly necessary cookies operate and no measurement or advertising tool is loaded at all.
The choice is made per category rather than by a single blanket button. You can allow one category and refuse another, and no box is pre-ticked.
Refusing is exactly as easy as accepting: both buttons are the same size, in the same row. Browsing the site is not, in itself, consent.
You can change your mind at any time through the "Cookie settings" link at the foot of every page. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it, as the law requires.
Category 1: strictly necessary
Always on and cannot be switched off, because without it the site does not work or does not remember what you asked for. This category does no tracking, no profiling and passes nothing to advertisers.

Category 2: measurement and improvement
Runs only if you allow it. It helps us understand which pages genuinely help, where people get stuck and what is worth improving. We use it to improve the site, not to approach you personally.
- Google Analytics (Google Ireland/LLC): aggregate usage statistics. We run it with IP anonymisation and without sharing data for advertising purposes, unless you also allowed the marketing category.
- PostHog: product usage analysis, which screens and buttons get used. Session recording is not enabled.
- We may add or swap a similar measurement tool in future. It will fall into this same category, be subject to this same consent, and this list will be updated.
Category 3: marketing and advertising
Runs only if you allow it. Used to measure campaigns and tailor the ads you see on social platforms and search engines.
- Meta pixel (Facebook and Instagram): conversion measurement and audience matching.
- We may add further advertising tools, for example from Google or LinkedIn. They will fall into this same category and be subject to this same consent, and this list will be updated.
Tools in this category create an identifier that can recognise your browser on other sites too. That is precisely why they sit in their own category and are off by default.
Who operates these tools and where data goes
The tools in categories 2 and 3 are operated by international companies, so data collected through them is also processed outside Israel, including in the European Union and the United States.
Each has its own privacy policy governing the data it collects. For our part we enable them only to the extent needed and only per the consent you gave.

Browser-level control
In addition to the choice on this site, you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings and enable "do not track". Blocking cookies wholesale may break parts of the site.
Clearing local storage also clears the record of your consent, so we will ask again on your next visit.
Links and external services
Clicking a WhatsApp button hands you over to a Meta service, governed by its own terms and policies.
On the English pricing page only, the browser requests a current exchange rate from frankfurter.app (falling back to open.er-api.com) so it can show an up-to-date dollar price. As with any network request this reveals your IP address, and nothing else about you is sent. This request is necessary to display the price and is not used for measurement.
The documentation site (docs.opticcount.com) and the system (app.opticcount.com) are separate environments. The system requires sign-in and therefore uses cookies or local storage that are strictly necessary to maintain a session.
